Jacob went to his first youth conference!
I am really proud of Jacob for going and I think he was glad by the end of it, too. It was also a fun bonus because Mark was able to go for most of it (he had to come home the night before it ended for work) because of his calling in the Dos Rios Branch.
They went to Lake Ogallala in Nebraska for three days and had a great time. The theme for the conference was “Who I Am” and they talked about who they are as children of God and who they are as disciples of Christ. They divided all the kids in the stake into “twelve tribes”. Jacob was in Simeon. They were each given a partner within those tribes as well, and they got to pray as a partnership for one another. I heard it was a pretty powerful experience.
They did a service project cleaning up around Lake McConaughy and then spent the rest of the day swimming and playing on the beach.
I am so grateful that Jacob was able to have this experience.
