UTAH & IDAHO: Wedding, Bernings, Fourth of July, Grandma Dixie, and Moldenhauers

We had such a great time the last two weeks being with family. We are so grateful for everyone we were able to see. Our first week was mostly just the kiddos and me because Mark had to work.

Matthew and Carly’s Wedding

The reason we came when we did was to celebrate our nephew, Matthew, and his marriage to Carly.  Their wedding was beautiful.  They were married in the Payson Utah Temple.  It has been a busy wedding season for the Berning family but we are so grateful we have been able to come and be a small part of them.  I am so happy for Matthew and Carly and this new season in their lives.

Time in Draper

The next couple of days were spent with my parents in Draper.  It was wonderful to spend time with them, my sisters, and little Nora.  Sarah and Benjamin spent nearly every waking moment playing in the dirt and building a pretty awesome teepee in the backyard and Jacob crocheted his little heart out. We also got things ready for a big family BBQ for the Fourth of July and for the upcoming Clegg reunion.

Fourth of July

Happy 250th Birthday, America!  It was a special one.  Mark worked the day before but was able to take a shuttle to the airport after work and fly out to Salt Lake late.  It was so good to be together again.

We spent the day going up to visit Gus, Darlene, and Brian in North Ogden.  And it turned out to be such a fun bonus, because Jacob and Jenny came as well.  We got lunch and visited in their home.  We also wanted to celebrate Gus and Darlene’s 60th anniversary that is later this summer.

Gus said something that I want to remember.  He said that when he and Darlene went to the Salt Lake Temple to be sealed, it was just the two of them.  The temple workers asked where their “group” was and it was only them.  But he said after 60 years, their group has gotten so much bigger.  I am grateful for the life that they gave Mark and that they give to those of us that have come after.

We drove back down to Draper later that afternoon and had a big Clegg family BBQ.  It was so fun to spend time with my Aunt Shauna and my Aunt Sara, Uncle Jim, and my cousins and their spouses (or soon-to-be spouses!).  My parents did such a great job hosting and creating such a fun environment.

Grandma Dixie

The next day we woke up, got packed up, and hit the road.  Destination 1 – Soda Springs, Idaho.  I am so glad we were able to go visit my Grandma Dixie.  She was such a sweetheart and made us the yummiest lunch and we just loved visiting with her.  It never feels long enough but we were so happy we were able to spend some time with her.

Daniel and Teresa

We then made our way to Rexburg to visit Daniel and Teresa.  It has been such a wonderful gift the last couple of months to spend so much time with family at all these weddings.  I am so grateful for the long conversations we were able to have that night and really happy to see how much fun the kids had with Emmett.  It was the best of nights.

The next morning, we made our way further north to Island Park for the Clegg Reunion (more on that later).  But we are so happy for this week that we were able to have.
