I feel like Lydia has gotten a lot of time on the blog lately, but it’s always about our concerns and her medical journey. Our concerns are big and they are real {and I’ve got some updates ready to be shared in the next couple of days} but I also just want to remember our little girl…for just being a little girl.
So here are some of my favorite Lydia-isms:
Her smile. I cannot get enough of her smile. When she gives a true, genuine smile with her teeth showing, it stops me in my tracks every time. She has THE BEST goofy grin I have ever seen. She has a pretty big space between her front teeth and I absolutely love it.
Elephant noises. She’s started to make noises that sound just like a little elephant blowing from her trunk and it is just too cute. They are rare but oh so adorable.
I love how water almost instantly calms her down. Not always, but most of the time, she is totally soothed by water. Lydia’s had some sad times lately and when I can’t get her to calm down, I will hop in the tub with her and just hold her up so she floats and she always calms right down. I don’t know if it is the feeling of floating or what but I love how much SHE loves it.
Lydie loves her Daddy. When he holds her, she instantly put her head down on his shoulder and burrows in. She very rarely does it with me {and I try REALLY hard not to be too jealous 😉} but am so glad that her and Daddy have such a strong connection.
We might be making up this narrative on our own, but we love how shy Lydie is about her love for Willa. Lydie has a little stuffed bunny {named Willa} that we have always given her when she sleeps. If you give it to her any other time, she acts pretty disinterested. But if you go in quietly to check on her while she’s sleeping, Willa is almost always securely wrapped around Lydia’s head or neck. And if she’s awake, she’s always holding her, until she sees you and then she quickly throws her to the side. Shy little one.
We love our Lydia so much. The kids and I were talking the other day and the topic of Lydia came up. And I can’t remember who said it first, but one of the kids said “I bet Heavenly Father has a picture of Lydia on His nightstand.” We immediately all laughed but, you know what, I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if it was true! We love you, sweetheart.
Lump in my throat! Oh my, Love your little family.
We love you right back 💛
We love our Lydia so much.
