September every day moments 🍂

Burton Palous Fillmore and Marvel Cloward

I am so happy with all that I was able to learn and feel while I was learning about my Fillmore family.  Read all about it HERE.

Contacts

This little sweetie got CONTACTS!  She was so happy and has been counting the days all summer for this appointment.  She has done really well with them.  She looks so grown up.

First Day of School

These kiddos started a new school year!  Read all about it HERE.

Sarah’s 12th Birthday

A very happy birthday to this beautiful sweetheart.  Read all about it HERE.

Montpelier Temple

We had the most amazing weekend with the Bernings in the Bear Lake Valley.  Read all about it HERE.

North Beach

As part of our weekend, Mark and the bigs spent some time at North Beach.  Doesn’t get better. Read all about it HERE.

Apple Fritters

I love being in the kitchen.  Food is one of my favorite love languages to share with others.  I found a new website all about baking and they do a monthly baking challenge.  I thought it sounded fun to stretch myself and make things I might otherwise do.  This month was apple fritters.  They didn’t look very pretty but they tasted AMAZING.

BYU Football

BYU made its way to Colorado!  Mark and Benjamin went to the game with some friends and had a great time.

Embroidery

Grandma Dixie sent Sarah a whole lot of embroidery material and she is so excited!  She has been busy working on projects in her free time ever since.  She is so grateful.

Swallow Study

We got some bad news.  Back in the spring when I was talking with Lydie’s GI doctor, we decided to get Lydie scheduled for another swallow study.  It has been 3 ½ years since her last one and with the amount of pneumonia she has had over the last two years, we thought it would make sense to check on things.

Lydie did amazing – as she always does.  But we learned she’s been silently aspirating, despite being on thickener already.  We are still waiting to hear from her medical team, but the team we did meet with advised me that it is no longer safe for her to have food by mouth anymore.  While we could thicken the food to a “safe” place, Lydie lacks the muscle strength to swallow it completely and free up her airway.  For now, they believe she can still have a sippy cup – with increased thickness – but we will see what her team says.

I am sad.  Sad that this is one more thing our little girl has to go through and do differently.  It complicates things.  It wasn’t easy before having her food be pureed, but this changes things to a greater level.  We will adjust and we will move forward like we always do.  But, for right now, I am letting myself feel sad about it.
