Christmas Festivities

Christmas is magical.

I love the simple Christmas traditions that we have created as a family.

Christmas Cookies

We have spent hours all cozied up reading Christmas books by the tree and watching “White Christmas” bundled up on the couch. And the holidays wouldn’t be the same without some gingerbread cookies.

We were able to spend a couple days in Utah with family and we had such a lovely time celebrating all things Christmas.

We started off our trip in North Ogden with Grandpa and Grandma Berning and Uncle Brian. We stayed up late every night playing games. We were all about Quixx and Rack-O!

One night we headed down to Salt Lake to visit Temple Square. We love going down and seeing the lights and feeling the Christmas Spirit that is there. There’s nothing quite like it.

Then we had our Berning Family Christmas party! It was so much fun to see everyone and catch up. Grant and Kristen were able to come over with their family {even Elise and Tyler came down from Logan} and Daniel and Teresa and their family came down from Idaho.

{EVERY TIME we get together with the Bernings I always get so distracted chatting that I forget to get pictures!}

After the party we headed down to Draper to spend some time with my family.

Mark and I went to an early morning showing of Star Wars {which was pretty much like Christmas morning for Mark} and we both really enjoyed it.

We spent the rest of the day cooking, baking, and puzzle-ing. That night we had a scrumptious dinner, took goofy pictures, and exchanged our “favorite things”.

My Mom started this tradition last year and it’s been so much fun. Each of us girls gifts one of our favorite things to one another. This year I shared my Clean Simple Eats cookbook – definitely one of my favorite finds from this year!

Jacob also has been preparing for a Christmas recital for the family. He performed “Jingle Bells” and “Away in a Manger”. He did so well!

We were also able to attend church with my parents which was wonderful to see some neighbors and friends that I haven’t seen for a long time.

As we go into the final days of this Christmas season I am so grateful. I am grateful that we keep this season simple. I am grateful that we have put our energy into the things that fill us up.
