Camp de Vida: Day 3

Day 3 of Camp de Vida was wonderful!

Morning Devotional

We started with our morning devotional.  This day was all about the Atonement.  We talked about how it can be hard during difficult times to feel like anyone understand, but there is someone who truly understands us and our individual situations.  He suffered so we never have to be alone.  We read some scriptures and talked about the peace that comes through our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Learn CPR

Mark then gave a lesson on the basics of CPR.  We had some giggly participants, but it was really helpful for all of us.  And hopefully a skill we never have to use.

First Aid for Bites, Burns, Blisters, and Snakebites

Then Mark gave us a lesson on how to do first aid for various things.  The kids know these pretty well, so it was more of a review and letting them teach one another.

Bandana Embroidery

My little crew of crafters couldn’t wait for our craft project.  I got some cute embroidery patterns and we did them on our bandanas.  It was so fun!  I was hoping to find plain bandanas (which would have made it look a little better) but this year I could only find patterned bandanas.  But they are darling and definitely still a work in progress for most of us!

Purifying Water

Mark gave a lesson on what to do if our water is unsafe to drink and different methods you can use to purify it.

Ironing

Another home life skill – ironing!  Sarah loves ironing, but the boys don’t have much experience.  So this was a good skill to go over.  All those years of working at the dry cleaners always come flooding back when I iron.

“Anything Goes” Water Balloon Fight

Then we ended with a WATER FIGHT!  This has been on our summer bucket list, and it was so much fun.  All of us had a blast!

Another successful day of Camp de Vida!
