Here was my plan going into Lydia’s first preschool year in school.
Overall Thoughts
Looking forward with Lydia’s education fills me with a lot of emotions. I am excited. Excited to see her learn. I am nervous. Nervous if I have it in me to learn how to teach her in a way that works for her. And I am peaceful. That may sound strange, but I do feel peaceful about it. I am not sure what my goals are for Lydia’s education yet. There is a great deal that is still unknown. Not only is Lydia’s education going to have to be largely adapted, we also are unsure about her second genetic results that were found, that could play a role in her learning.
This year, I am dedicating to learning Lydie and what resources are out there. Lydia’s therapies are top priority. This year, our goal is to have all of her therapies started and consistently moving forward. That includes physical, speech, occupational therapy, vision therapy, and a fun therapy. Once we unlock some of these resources, it will help me move forward in knowing how she learns best.
Curriculum
- Come, Follow Me: This is a family subject and Lydie participates. The first half of this year we studied the Old Testament and have now transitioned to the New Testament.
- Before Five in a Row: Last summer, I was looking into curriculums that were literature based. Lydie and I enjoy reading together and I thought that was a good starting point. I was having a hard time deciding when we were asked to join a homeschool co-op. I will go more into that later but the curriculum they wanted to use for the “littles” class was Before Five in a Row. They have a book list along with several activities that go with each book. So I use that with Lydia at home as well as co-op.
Conclusion
I don’t have it all figured out. I wish I did. But Lydie and I will figure it out together. One thing I know for sure, is that it’s going to work out. It’s going to look different. But that is how Lydie and I roll these days! We got this sweetheart!
