Once we left the Great Sand Dunes, we made our way up to Zapata Falls. This was right in my happy place! The hike was very easy – only 1/2 mile! Once you get to the falls – you actually do not see them. You have to cross the creek and meander your way back into a rocky crevasse to see the waterfall. It is 25 feet tall and for us – it was FROZEN! Sarah, Ben, and I had fun exploring, while Mark, Jacob, and Lydia stayed on the other side of the creek.

If the waterfalls don’t encourage you to come – the views of the dunes should! They were beautiful from here!

We made our way back into town and ate dinner at The Rubi Slipper – which was so tasty after a long day out in the sun! Definitely the highlight day for each of us!
