Traveling to Big Sky Country

Our family vacations are a HIGHLIGHT of our year! And we experienced such a wonderful time together as a family. This year has been filled with changed or cancelled plans for everyone, including us, and it was a little miracle that this trip happened.

Our original plan for our vacation was to go to New Jersey. We were so excited to go. It was going to be our first trip to the East Coast and we were just so thrilled. Our trip was booked and scheduled for the beginning of May but when COVID hit, we knew it wasn’t going to happen.

We cancelled our plans and wondered what to do for our family trip. We looked at a map and tried to decide on a place that was close and where we could realistically travel safely and social distance.

We decided on Nebraska and it might surprise some to learn that we were actually really excited for Nebraska as well. It seemed like a good fit and we got busy making plans. We waited to make things concrete until we got closer and decided on a trip for September.

As time got closer, though, there were certain aspects of our plan for Nebraska that just weren’t opening up. We then made the decision to go to Plan C – MONTANA!

If we are being honest, I was a little “planned” out by this point {and trust me, no one is more shocked by that statement than me!}. But we planned a simple, but wonderful, family trip.

We decided to go up a day earlier than we planned so that we could spend the night in Rexburg with Daniel and Teresa {Mark’s sister} and their family. We hadn’t seen them since Christmas and it was wonderful to catch up. We were also able to see Kiley since she is home from her mission, and spend time with her and her fiancé, Hunter. We can’t wait to celebrate their wedding in a couple months.

The kiddos had a movie night with cousins!

We may have stayed up WAY past our bedtimes but we had a blast playing The Farming Game and learning how useless livestock is 😉.

We had an early start the next day, and made our way into Montana. Keith {Mark’s brother} and Jayme and some of their girls came and met us in Missoula for lunch and it was really great to catch up with them as well. It is way too long between visits and even though Lydie cried almost the whole time, we are so grateful we got to see them.

After lunch, we made our final drive up north. We stayed in a nice and cozy AirBNB in Coram, right outside of Glacier National Park, and got ready for some fantastic days in nature.

The “throne”! There was this random really tall chair in the corner of our AirBNB, and…let’s just say, we had to take turns 😉

Montana was our favorite place to go. Glacier Park is a fabulous place to see some of the wonders of Mother Nature. Look forward to the next episode of your trip.
