I think traditions are an important part of family life and this is my FAVORITE TRADITION EVER!!!
THE IDEA
Right after Mark and I got married, in fact, it might have ever been on our honeymoon, I proposed an idea to Mark. I don’t know WHERE the idea came from but I had this crazy idea that for our family vacations we should pick a different state every year to explore. Mark totally jumped on the idea!! WOOT!
THE RULES
Mark concluded that we should come up with some rules. Every year, each individual in the family would pick a state from a hat. During this time, vetoes were allowed to happen. Every person was allowed ONE veto – only one! If a certain state was vetoed, a new one would be drawn. Then there would be a FINAL drawing. This would be the trip for the upcoming year.
THE RESULT
We have done this every year of our marriage {except one} and each trip is filled with some of my most favorite memories. Some places seem more exciting on paper but all of the states we have explored have been incredible. This world is a beautiful place and I can’t wait to explore as much of it as we can.
