Lydia’s 6th Birthday

Lydia is SIX! It feels like such a big milestone!

Rainbow Party

Lydia is filled with all the hope and happiness of rainbows. We kept the day simple because we knew that was what Lydie likes best. We played games, watched a movie, went on a walk, and just spent time together at home. Lydie’s happy place is home and so that is what we wanted to give to her.

Later that night, we opened cards and presents and had cake and ice cream. Lydie had a couple squirts of her favorite whipped cream and she was a happy girl.

Our Six Year Old Girl

Lydia’s Favorites:

  • Food: Peas
  • Toy: Tonies
  • Treat: Whipped cream
  • Song: The “Wish” Soundtrack
  • Movie / Show: Anything animated + Music / Bluey

Lydie lights up our world and we love that little ray of sunshine so much. She is truly the sweetest soul who makes everything better.

One thing that gets us laughing nearly every night is how Lydie responds to brushing her teeth. As soon as I tell her it is time to brush her teeth, she closes her eyes and goes completely still like she is asleep! Oh my goodness, it is the funniest thing. Then when you say her name she will start to smile and eventually open her mouth. She is not a big fan of brushing her teeth but this routine makes is hilarious for all of us. What a goof!

I will never stop being in awe of Lydie’s patience. That girl goes through so much, more than I will ever know or understand. This has been a rough six months with her seizures, pneumonia, and frequent smaller illnesses. And she still manages to give us her sweet smiles and patiently endures it all.

Her giggles. The world continues to stop spinning when Lydie laughs. I wish we heard them more often but they are the best sound when they happen. She continues to make us laugh with her “destruction giggles”. If there is a tense moment in a movie when something bad is happening she LOVES it. She is also pretty fond of any time when Ben is getting tickled – and only Ben. It’s hilarious.

I love how much Lydie loves home. I love that I can see the change in her when we come through our door. It is her favorite place and I am grateful that she seems to love it just as much as we do.

We love our little rainbow girl.
