ENGLAND: Shopping and Home

Our final day in England.  We slept in and just relaxed.  It was so lovely.  Initially we thought we might be able to do something this morning, but with everything opening so late it didn’t make sense to try.  But that was fine with us.  It was nice to just let everything from this trip settle.

Mark walked down and grabbed some breakfast from our favorite stand, and we ate it in our room.  We were getting so excited to go home and see the kids.

Shopping at the Airport

We checked out of our hotel and made our way to Heathrow Airport.  Once we got past security, we realized that the best shopping just might have been at the airport!  I was feeling so discouraged the night before, but we found some GEMS at the airport for the kids.  It was the perfect mix of English items but not feeling so cheesy.  It was a major win!

England Favorites

While we were sitting at dinner the night before, we talked about our favorites.  It is hard to pick favorites, but this is what it came down to for both of us.

Mark’s favorites were:

  1. Stonehenge
  2. British Museum
  3. Harry Potter Studios

My favorites were:

  1. Blenheim Palace
  2. Preston Temple and Family History Sites
  3. Stonehenge

Final Thoughts

This trip was so lovely.  I loved being able to experience a different culture and people.  Even though there were many similarities, there are definitely some differences too.  I loved being able to see things I never thought I would and experience all that newness with Mark.  They are memories I will hold close forever.

I also must share how grateful I am for my parents.  They really made this trip possible and were so supportive of us and willing to take care of the kids.  It was a really big ask.  They kept school going and kept routines as normal as they could.  Then add all the extras that Lydie requires.

Unless you are a parent of a medically complex kiddo it would be hard to explain how big this is.  For us, trusting someone else with her was big.  And for my parents, they had to learn everything and take it on.  It was a lot on both sides, and we are so grateful that the Lord was with all of us to help make this trip possible.

England, we love you.
