Jacob was asked to give a talk in Primary {this is a class for ages 3 -11 in our church} this last Sunday. This is what he shared with them:
“In Romans 6:4 it says: “Like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
The Apostle Paul taught the Romans about the importance of baptism. He explained that we we are baptized it is like we bury our sinful life and are raised up again into a new or spiritual life. It doesn’t mean that we will not ever do anything wrong again but that we don’t want to sin and when we do make a mistake, we will quickly repent.
When you are baptized you promise Heavenly Father to take upon yourself the name of Jesus Christ, keep the commandments, and serve the Lord.
Heavenly Father makes promises to you too when you are baptized. He promises the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost, a remission of sins and that you will be born again.
Next year I will be able to be baptized. I am excited to make these promises to Heavenly Father and know that they will bring me happiness. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
