“The essence of love is kindness.”
Robert Louis Stevenson
Our week leading up to Valentine’s was incredible. It really truly was. I felt like we had so many moments where I just felt like I was catching glimpses of heaven on earth. Glimpses of the kind of love that Robert Louis Stevenson is talking about – pure kindness. There was just an increase of peace in our home and it was incredible.
Valentine’s Day is all about family love in our home. The kid’s were so excited and were counting down the days for it to come.
We love adding traditions to holidays and we definitely have a couple for Valentine’s Day that we love…but my favorite BY FAR are our love notes to one another. Everybody makes their own large envelope and puts in on their bedroom door and all week long people deliver love notes to one another – all to be opened up on Valentine’s Day.
It probably shouldn’t come as too much as a surprise, but the way straight to my heart is with words. I love a good love note. So this tradition is right up my alley!
This year’s love notes were so sweet and tender…and some just made us laugh out loud. Jacob wrote a poem for each person {cue water works!}, Sarah made delightful pictures, Ben was simplistic and wonderful in his thoughts, and Lydia oozed her sweetness over us all.
Mark also got me and the girls some flowers {Sarah was in absolute heaven} and the boys all got some chocolates! It was pretty much perfect.
To end the night, we watched Wall-E {per Sarah’s request – it was her turn to pick movie night!}. Because nothing says love like two robots learning how to hold hands 😉
AWE!!!! I love the traditions you have with your family.
Absolutely perfect!
