This was up there as one of my very favorite gifts I have ever given someone because I knew how much she would love it. Sarah is such a country girl at heart. She wants to live in the country, on a farm, and have a whole stable full of horses. I so wish we could give this kind of life to her – it’s not too far from my own dream I’ve had my whole life – but until we can do that, this was a pretty good substitution for a morning.
For Sarah’s birthday, Mark and I gave Sarah a trail ride for a couple of hours and it was perfect. It just happened to work out that we were the only ones with our guide. Sarah spent the whole time chatting with our guide (who was fantastic) and I got to watch my girl do something she loves so much.
We got to go along beautiful terrain. The property was gorgeous and we got to go across meadows, up and down mountainsides, through heavy brush, and along a river (and even crossed it once!). Sarah’s horse was named Luna and Sarah loved her. She was this beautiful palomino who was gentle and sweet. My horse was named Bella and she was a little independent sorrel mare who definitely liked to keep her distance from the others.
It was a perfect day with my girl.
