Our family loves an excuse to CELEBRATE! The kids live for holidays and they were so excited to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!
We started the day off with a bang with our traditional St. Patrick’s Day breakfast {our holiday menu at the bottom}. I love having food traditions with holidays and we are pretty solid with our food choices now!
After we all got ready for the day, we did our family study and then read some of our favorite St. Patrick’s Day books!
Patrick: Patron Saint of Ireland by Tomie dePaola is a great read. It is fun to learn more about the man behind the holiday. Brother Sun, Sister Moon: Saint Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Creatures reimagined by Katherine Paterson was a new one for us but I really enjoyed it. It’s a great one for spring and just being grateful for the world we have been given.
Next up was CRAFT time! Grammy saved the day on this one and sent the kids a fun leprechaun craft and they had lots of fun with that. Totally simple. Totally great.
We spent the rest of the day outside exploring {it’s been so lovely having weather in the low 50’s – at least for a couple days!} and relaxing inside playing games and just enjoying togetherness.
Mark had to work the afternoon and night shift, but the kiddos and I had a great St. Patrick’s Day feast – complete with mint brownies {think an enormous Andes mint…so good}!
