I have wanted to do a family poetry party for a LONG time! I heard the idea several years ago in the homeschooling world and I thought it sounded so wonderful – and it WAS! We found a great book from The Good and the Beautiful called Poetry Parties for Littles: Insects and Spiders with all of the thinking done for me (hallelujah!) and we had our first one all about SPIDERS!
We had a blast decorating for the party. Mark and Benjamin went above and beyond with the spider web (which may or may not still be hanging up) and then we made spider hats! I also made some fun spider crackers to go along with our dinner of black bean soup and naan. While we ate dinner we each read poems all about spiders. We clapped after each one and it was just FUN!
I am so grateful for the little things with our family. Who knew spiders could be so fun?!
