Mississippi Day 8: Home + NEW STATE

Our final day of our trip! We left Wichita and began the last leg of our journey home.

As always happens, it didn’t take us long before we began preparing for our “drawing” of our next state. We love this tradition so very much. Here is how it went:

Mark = New Jersey

Elise = Minnesota

Jacob = New Mexico

Sarah = Kansas

Benjamin = Missouri

Lydia = Georgia

And the final drawing went to…

NEW MEXICO!

We are so excited! I have to admit, I am itching to get to New England but New Mexico is going to be an exciting adventure. Mark has wanted to go to Carlsbad Caverns for so long and we have many more fun places to explore.

Mississippi was such a great trip. We continue our streak of “NO DUDS”. Every state has been magical in its own unique way. That is why I love these trips. Each year is such a memorable experience.

When I think of Mississippi I am going to remember Sarah seeing a dolphin for the first time. I am going to remember Lydie’s smile as she played in the sand and watched the ocean waves. I am going to remember Jacob trying catfish. And I will remember Ben running and jumping around the cannons. I am going to remember my complete shock and disbelief as I heard the story of Medgar and Myrlie Evers laid out for me in their home. I am going to remember falling in love with the town of Oxford. I am going to remember eight days of time spent together.

Thank you for the beautiful memories, Mississippi.
