We had such a great Memorial Day! We kicked things off with a yummy breakfast and I loved having a slower morning. Once we got everything cleaned up and ready for the day, we made our way to the cemetery.
The kids were anticipating and looking forward to this and I love that it has become a tradition in their eyes as well. I love this simple, but meaningful activity. Ben is always my most thoughtful in this. This year, he said he really wanted to focus on people that served in World War I. So he went around looking for those headstones and it was really sweet – and he found them!
The rest of the day was relaxed and perfect. Lydie and I spent some time in the kitchen making food for our little family barbecue (I tried a new dessert – strawberry cheesecake!) and Mark and the big kids did some yard work outside.
I am so grateful for the many opportunities that we have. For the opportunity that this day gives us to remember. Remember those that have paved the way for us personally, as a family, and as a country. It’s a beautiful day.
A beautiful day and your dessert looks yummy. 😋
It was! I hope you had a peaceful Memorial Day as well ☀
