Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park

Day 2 of our family vacation began with another early start.  Not quite as early as our first day but it was early enough.

Luckily, it was only a 9 ½ hour driving day, so not quite as long as day 1.  Everyone thought we were a little crazy to drive it, and I might have to agree, but we knew it would be long and we survived.

We were mostly on the road but we did stop in Johnson City to go to the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park.  Once again, this was at the tail end of our day and we were all anxious to get out and stretch our legs!

Jacob and Sarah were a little out of control…okay, a LOT out of control.  We were all done.  Sarah may or may not have set off the alarm for going behind a barrier.

We started off by going to the Lyndon B. Johnson Historical Park Visitor Center.  They had some read neat exhibits that showcased his life and accomplishments.  I learned a lot!

Then we took a very quick tour of Lyndon B. Johnson’s boyhood home.

Finally, we walked down to the Johnson Settlement which was about a mile round trip and was really nice.  Jacob found his chuck wagon (he had made one the week before in school to get ready for Texas) and he was so excited.  We also saw our first Texas longhorns!

We hit the road again and finally made it to San Antonio.  We decided to do our first Airbnb and loved it!  It was so much cheaper than a hotel and having our own space is so nice – especially after being in the car together for so long!
