Legoland & Sea Life Aquarium

DAY 4 was an extra sort of day. We decided to take a little break from our Church history tour and go into Kansas City. I had not had a good night before and was having a bit of a rough start that morning, just not feeling great. But things got better as the day went on. We surprised the kiddos and spent the day at the Legoland Discovery Center and Sea Life Aquarium. They were combined with each other (which feels like a strange combo), but somehow it worked!

Legoland Discovery Center

When we first got into Legoland it was MADNESS! There were SO MANY kids – pretty much all of them on field trips. We didn’t really know what to expect, but there were little amusement park type rides, a theater, lots of stations to build LEGOS, games, and a whole lot of displays. It was a little overwhelming at first because it was just so loud (there is a reason amusement parks are outside). But luckily, the field trip kiddos didn’t last too long and then it was tons of fun!

They had a fun “Miniland” where they had replicas of the entire downtown of Kansas City, different stadiums in Missouri, and racecar tracks. They also had a Wizard of Oz scene which was really fun. They showed the amount of hours that each building took and – oh my heavens – HUNDREDS of hours!

One of the highlights was definitely a car race. We each built a car and they had racetracks to use – Lydie and I won every time! Then we did a ninja race with lasers and everything and Ben was the winner of that one!

Sea Life Aquarium

We took a break after Legoland and had lunch in the plaza outside. Then we made our way to the aquarium. As fun as Legoland was, I think this was much more Jacob and Lydie’s speed. We all had a great time and enjoyed the quiet, peaceful atmosphere, as we were almost the only ones there.

Ben met a worker named Mike and talked to him for a LONG time. He had lots of questions!

Then at the end of the aquarium, they had a place where you could draw and create your own fishes. Then once you were done, you “sent” them into the aquarium and they came out swimming. We had a lot of fun with this!

Afterwards, the store was a dream for the kids! They loved all of the marine animal stuffies and then the LEGO portion was their favorite! After looking at all the things, it took some serious effort to get them the kids to leave.

Minsky’s Pizza

We ended the night with some pizza which was perfect for our fun day! Then Mark, Sarah, and Ben went swimming again while I got some good quality time with Jacob and Lydie.
