Our every day January moments ❄

Winter Sun

Winter finally found us this January. Our family couldn’t get enough of the snow and cold days outside and cozy moments inside. I love mornings after a storm when everything is covered in frost.

Animals of the Rainforest

We had a fun afternoon exploring the Animals of the Rainforest exhibit at the Denver Nature and Science Museum. Read all about it HERE.

Sledding

With all of the glorious snow came a LOT of sledding afternoons. As soon as we were finished with school, the kiddos would race outside to sled. They discovered the dirt hill on the side of our neighborhood makes a pretty good sledding hill – although their snow clothes are all filthy! It’s been so much fun for them.

Desk + Sarah’s Room is DONE

Sarah’s room was our first “project” in our home and boy oh boy has it been a long one! And bless her sweet little heart because she has been so incredibly patient through it all.

The final part was to paint her desk. We found an unfinished desk a couple months ago and we finally got around to painting it. We love the little pop of green that her bookcase and desk bring to her room. It feels like such a garden oasis. Sarah LOVES it and we are so happy with how it turned out. It feels just like Sarah and we are happy to have a place for family and friends to stay when they come and visit.

Here are the FINAL before and after pictures of Sarah’s room (I am still so bummed that I didn’t get a true “before” picture but it is still fun).

BEFORE & AFTER

Seizures

January saw more seizures for our little Lydie. This month was really hard. I cried a lot. It just felt really heavy and it was so hard to see Lydie going through so much. We had a lot of conversations with her neurologist and we decided to add another seizure medication. This is always scary because seizure meds can have some really rough side effects. But since we have added the new medication we haven’t seen any more seizures and we are very grateful for that. There are still some more concerns though and we have do do a lot of follow up and blood work, but we are trying to remain hopeful and remember that our little girl is in the Lord’s hands.

Office Makeover

One thing that has brought us a lot of joy this month is doing a huge refresh in our office. Oh my goodness it looks so good! I can’t wait to share more pictures but for now you can read a little bit about it HERE.

Red Faces

With all that cold weather brought a whole lot of RED faces! I love these red cheeks!

Massage Sleeps

Lydie got a lot of attention this month. I tell you her favorite part of her week is massage. She has the kindest woman that comes over to the house and does it and Lydie is so happy. She almost always falls asleep and it was just too cute to pass up a picture.

Warm Baths

Sometimes it feels hard to know how to help Lydie. But we have our little “bag of tricks” you could say. One of them is a nice warm bath. It’s been an adjustment with new meds and Lydie has been a little more sad than normal. Cue more baths.

Paper Snowflakes

WINTER BUCKET LIST ✔

Because of Lydie’s health problems since Christmas, we haven’t done as much on our bucket list as we had hoped, but we managed to squeeze in a night of making paper snowflakes. We learned that Mark is a snowflake master and amazes us with his creations. This year we decided to put the snowflakes on all of the bedroom windows and the windows upstairs. It feels so fun and festive.

Time at the Temple

For our family council in January, we all made some personal goals that we are trying to support one another on. One of the goals I made for myself was more time in the temple. I had to miss my appointment I had made earlier in the month because of some bad days with Lydie, but everyone was so supportive of juggling things around so I could still get in some time at the temple this month. It was such a sweet experience and just what my heart needed.

Weekend in Utah

To wrap up our January, Sarah and I went on a little mommy-daughter trip to Utah to celebrate my sister and her new baby coming next month! More on this later but we had such a wonderful time.
