Life, Travel

Homeward Bound

Our final day was a long one – but aren’t travel days always long?! I got up around 4:45 and started packing ALL THE THINGS. The one nice thing is you just know everything has to go back in and you don’t really have to think much.

The kiddos got up and ready and we were down in the lobby by six for our shuttle to pick us up. Again, this shuttle was fabulous and I would highly recommend them.

We got to the airport and it was CRAZY! So many people and I felt like going through security was absolute madness! I was not a big fan of the airport but we made it – but not without some tears from Lydia though.

We ate some breakfast at our gate and prepared to board. The kiddos did so well on our flight again. I think they are fans of airline travel! While we were flying, we drew our state for the next year.

One thing I have been asked a lot this last year is whether or not we were going to continue our yearly state trips. The answer is YES! We love these trips. They are one of our favorite traditions and we don’t plan to stop. Airline travel is going to be tricky (luckily they just let Mark hold Lydia on his lap this time, but that is probably not going to work for long). Lydia can’t hold herself up and I don’t think she would be able to sit independently on her seat. BUT we are dreaming of maybe getting a RV or fifth wheel and then we can hit the road anywhere! In the meantime, our minivan can get us pretty much anywhere we need to go.

So all of that being said, our state for next year is…

KENTUCKY

We are so excited! Believe it or not, this is actually a shorter drive than our trip to Texas! We are already itching to get planning and explore the Bluegrass State! Kentucky – we are coming for you!

We got our luggage, hopped on the shuttle, said goodbye to the grandparents, found our car, and began the long drive home. We got home about five that evening and we felt all of those good tired feelings.

This trip truly was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of trip. I still can’t hardly believe we were able to experience Disneyland with BOTH sets of grandparents. They are memories we will cherish forever. We are so grateful for Grandpa and Grandma and Gramps and Grammy for coming with us, for helping us, and especially, for making memories with us. We love you all.
