We had such a fun Halloween!
A couple days before Halloween, we carved our pumpkins and the kids did most of their carving on their own this year. They did a great job!
Lydia had a very FULL day because Thursday is Lydie’s heavy therapy day. She and Mark left early for speech while I tried making apple fritters for the first time. They turned out pretty good!
We had a slow-ish morning which was so nice just to talk and not worry about a schedule for a day (except for Lydie’s therapies). Then we got everyone ready in their costumes. This year Benjamin decided to be a Hogwarts student (we just finished the first book and it is so fun reliving these with the kids). And Sarah and Lydie were Laura and Carrie from The Little House on the Prairie. They were the cutest little pioneer girls you ever did see. I loved how unique their costumes were.
We took some pictures and then Lydie headed off for round two of therapies.
I made the bigs a Halloween charcuterie board (it’s highly requested for every holiday lunch now). We ate lunch in the school room which was a treat all on its own while Lydie came home for her massage therapy. We colored Halloween coloring pages while we ate and just talked and that was probably my favorite part of the entire day.
Then Lydie and Mark had some afternoon naps (after having the last couple weeks off, Mark had to start back work again that night) and the bigs and I decorated some spooky gingerbread cottages.
We had a yummy dinner and then the kids were itching to get trick or treating! Mark, Sarah, Ben, and Lydie went off to the “party house” and visited our friends there. Then they came home and Lydie hung out with Jacob and I the rest of the night while Mark, Sarah, and Ben went trick or treating around our neighborhood.
It was such a nice evening, especially having some one-one-one time with Jacob. He passed out candy and did a great job. Once the kids got back and the candy was sorted, we ended the night watching “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and it was pretty perfect.
Now we have officially entered COZY SEASON. My favorite!
I’m glad to read that Lydie continues to get her massage therapy. Glad everyone had a good Halloween.
Thanks, me too!
