First Day of Spring

“SPRING, SPRING, SPRING!”

{Please sing in your mind {or out loud – NO JUDGEMENT} to the Spring song from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers}

I’m not going to lie – our first week of spring was a little rough. We are all in this totally foreign situation, with countless unknowns, and I feel like I go through waves of feeling peace {I am grateful to have had MORE of these, and some truly powerful experiences} and waves of just heaviness. That is the only way I feel to describe it for myself – heavy.

HOWEVER, I am grateful for the timing of all of this. I am grateful that the seasons are changing {slowly, but SURELY!} and time spent outside in nature is happening more and more. And let me tell you, the fresh air is doing my MIND and BODY good!

To celebrate the first day of spring, we started with our traditional “Spring Breakfast”, got ready for the day, and went on a walk behind our house.

To be honest {again}, this day was one of those heavier days for me. I didn’t want to do school, I didn’t want to craft, I just wanted to be. So that is what we did. We spent time together as a family, played games, watched a movie, and relaxed. And it was just what we needed.

In an effort to make the day somewhat memorable, we did have our yummy Spring Banquet {we like to give things fancy names – it makes it more exciting!}.

As we enter spring, I am grateful to see the world begin to show signs of awakening. I am grateful to live in an area that experiences seasons. I love the change and variation.

And I am grateful for the symbolism I am finding, on a personal level, in this changing of the season and current events. I feel like we are being changed. Awakened to what is really important in our lives. Awakened to things that are bigger than ourselves. We are being given an opportunity to change. And I hope when this is all over {whenever that may be} that we accept that change, that we don’t just go back to how it “used to be” but we learn something from this experience and THEN move forward.

So come on spring, we are all waking up right with you.

    Your spring day looks like our spring day. Gray skies, snow covered mountains and cold. Cute pictures of the kids.
