This year we are shaking up our read alouds a little bit. Jacob really enjoys his read alouds and we just weren’t ready to give those up yet. However, I couldn’t figure out how to make the timing work. I know most homeschool families do one read aloud as a whole family, but I have loved doing ours one-on-one.
So this year Jacob is doing his read alouds with Mark! It is actually working out really well and Mark and him usually read together in the evenings. It has been fun to watch them do it together (although I do have to admit, I am a little jealous of the books they get to read!).
Here is their line up for the year:
- Summer of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls
- The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald (it sounds “girly” but I promise boys will like it too!)
- The King’s Fifth by Scott O’Dell
- The Windy Hill by Cornelia Meigs
- Victory at Bear Cove – A Story of Alaska by Elsa Pedersen
- George Muller – The Guardian of Bristol’s Orphans by Janet & Geoff Benge
- The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
