Denver Museum of Nature & Science

Our last FULL day in Denver was BUSY! First stop was the Nature and Science Museum. Mark and I LOVED this place when we lived here and it was so much better with our kids! They were a little skeptical before but we stuck with it because we knew they would love it and THEY DID!!!

This place is so much fun and we spent most of the day there. First stop was the Space Odyssey exhibit. This exhibit has so many fun, interactive things to do. They kiddos were in heaven! They also had a mat that you can stand on and it mimics the vibrations you feel when a rocket shoots off – Lydia and Ben must have done that half a dozen times together and it was the best.

Expedition Health was definitely the favorite though. You get a pass at the beginning and you get to do all these simulators that show various aspects of your health. It was so much fun and the kiddos LOVED it. The only part Sarah was not a fan of, was a simulator that showed how you would age if you smoked, didn’t wear sunscreen, or were obese. Let’s just say, it was good motivation for Sarah to stay nice and healthy!

The next exhibit we did was the Prehistoric Journey. This exhibit has loads to learn but it was here that we got separated. It was multi-leveled and we had a problem getting Lydia on to the other level and so her and I went exploring in the Wildlife Halls. They have tons of halls filled with animal exhibits. It is actually a really relaxing part of the museum. The halls all have dim lighting with seating in the middle and Lydia and I circled them more than once. We even went to the roof to get a view of downtown Denver.

We finally met back up with the rest of the family and went to the Egyptian Mummies exhibit. Ben was a little unsure about this and told me he likes it better when you can’t see the bodies. He was not a fan of the real mummies!

This place was so much fun and it was the perfect activity for our rainy day in Denver. To finish up our day, the aquarium!
