Christmas

Christmas has come and gone but ours was so good and needed to be documented. Our Christmas season was full of beautiful memories.

Christmas Trees and MORE Christmas Trees

I remember having a small Christmas tree that was just mine in my room growing up and I loved it. I have wanted to do that for the kiddos for awhile now and this year we DID IT! The kids were so excited to get their own trees in their rooms to decorate however they wanted. We took them to Hobby Lobby and they picked out their own color lights and some ball ornaments. Then they decorated them with their personal ornaments that they have received over the years. It was such a hit for the kids – I think Lydia might have loved it most though.

Christmas Book Wall

This summer we put this book wall together and we love it so much. Normally, we use it in our homeschool but really, we did this wall for CHRISTMAS BOOKS!!! We loved having a place to display all of our books and read from them all months long. It was dreamy.

Christmas Package

Gramps and Grammy sent the kids a fun Christmas package. Each year they send each one of the kids a personal ornament and they have become such treasures. They also sent a LEGO Advent Calendar and the kids loved it so much. It was so fun for them to do it every day and it is the gift that just keeps on giving as they still play with them!

This is what our table looks like after a HARD day of crafting!

Ornament Party

The kids and I were invited to one of our good friends home for an ornament exchange party (I feel like it has a more exciting name than that but I cannot think of it). I had never been a part of anything like that and it was so much fun! We gathered at my friend’s home in the morning for a breakfast potluck. The kids did an exchange between them and then went down into the basement to play and watch Christmas movies while the moms talked and exchanged their ornaments.

There are twelve women in the group and each one brings twelve ornaments. That way, everyone leaves with twelve new ornaments! It was such a fun day!

Old Fashioned Christmas

While we were at the ornament party, we learned about an annual tradition in a town by us that the school puts on. It’s a big Christmas carnival! We agreed we didn’t think there was much “old fashioned” about it – but we still had so much fun. The kids got to meet Santa, play in bounce houses, do all sorts of carnival games, and had dinner.

Nativities from Around the World

We have so many wonderful people in our life – and I can’t tell you how grateful I am that I can say that. But we are truly surrounded by the best. One of my friends lent us her nativity from the Holy Lands as well as some other nativities and books for our kids to play with for the season. They loved them!

Christmas Homeschool Co-Op

We had a little gathering at our homeschool co-op to celebrate Christmas. I forgot to take pictures while we were there but we did take a picture of our fun reindeer treat!

Ward Nativity

Our ward did a Christmas party and Jacob, Sarah, and Benjamin were all invited to be a part of the nativity. Jacob was a wise man, Sarah was the angel, and Benjamin was a shepherd. We loved watching them be a part of it!

Christmas Baking

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without baking. It’s one of my very favorite parts. Our month was FULL and we didn’t get to do as much as I would have liked. But we scrunched in a LOT the week leading up to Christmas. Our home was filled with gingersnaps, gingerbread houses, Christmas bon bons, and sugar cookies!

Christmas

I ended up loving that Christmas was on Sunday this year. There was something that just made it extra special. It was a day filled with love for one another and our Savior.
