Benjamin’s 5th Birthday

Oh Benjamin Lewis – where is the time going?! We were so happy to celebrate this big kid and give him TIME. The strains from this last year have been hardest on Ben and we were so happy to give him a day ALL about him!

The Party

Ben requested a SPACE PARTY and it was so fun to do! I had him come with me to pick out his balloon at the store and he was on cloud nine walking through the store and having people wish him a happy birthday.

He woke up to waffles, bacon, and chocolate milk – per his request – and he was in heaven. We then got ready for his party. Grandpa and Grandma, Gramps and Grammy, and Aunt Melina were able to come and celebrate our favorite five-year-old boy.

It was a wonderful day and we are so grateful for everyone who helped make it that way. I think Lydia hit a home run when she gifted Ben a Mickey and Minnie Rocket LEGO. He was playing with it all day long.

After a day of playing, we went and got Cafe Rio to go, had a picnic downstairs while watching Ben’s favorite “real Aladdin” movie (the live-action version). He loves THE GENIE!

Our Five Year Old

Ben is definitely our ACTIVE kid! He is always on the move! But my favorite part of this is that Ben is up for anything! He is always up for an adventure and I love that about him. He loves exploring.

Ben is a pretty brave kiddo, and as I said, is always up for an adventure, with one exception – STORMS. Ben and the other big kids and Mark had an experience this summer on the lake with a storm and it seems to have effected Benjamin the most. Whenever a storm rolls in, Benjamin gets really anxious. Late this last summer, a HUGE rain/hailstorm hit our area, and Ben really struggled. I went outside to bring in my flower pots and save them from the hail and it really upset Ben. When I came back in, I found Ben in my closet all curled up crying. It was so sad. And I hope he can move past it eventually.

Squishy. Ben is so adorably squishy. He has the best cheeks and I think I give him dozens of kisses a day. He will come up to me, not say a word, and just tap his cheek, waiting for a “lovin”. Ben loves snuggles.

There is a flip side to Ben’s physical nature though – he is either kissing you or TACKLING you! He just has so much energy!

Benjamin’s imagination is incredible! He is so good at creative play and I love to listen to his stories he comes up with while he plays with his dinosaurs, trucks, or trains.

Ben, I love you so much. You bring a LIFE to our family that I am so very grateful for. Keep being you. I can’t wait to see what the next year brings.
