This is most likely the last year I will be doing read alouds with Jacob – cue tears here 😢. I LOVE LOVE LOVE doing read alouds with the kiddos. BUT the following year Benjamin will be starting kindergarten and I just don’t think I will have time to do three separate read alouds. So we are going to just savor this final year!
As always, my go-to resource for beautiful and uplifting literature is The Good and the Beautiful Book List. It’s FREE and an amazing resource!
Our fourth grade line up is…drum roll, please…:
- Calico Bush by Rachel Field
- Kate’s Choice by Louisa May Alcott
- Madelon’s Journey by Ethel Calvert Phillips
- The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare
- The Lost Kingdom by Chester Bryant
- The Next Fine Day by Elizabeth Yates
- Tiger on the Mountain by Shirley L. Arora
- Under the Lilacs by Louisa May Alcott
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
I really struggled to narrow down our list this year. It’s always a little tricky to know how much we are going to get through. SOOO….if we happen to have more time, these books are on deck:
- Justin Morgan Had a Horse by Marguerite Henry
- The American Twins of the Revolution by Lucy Fitch Perkins
- The Boy Who Dared by Susan Campbell Bartoletti
***These books are all on a seventh grade reading level so would also make great independent readers for any kiddos in that range.***
