2022 – 2023 Curriculum: Fifth Grade

In the past, I have written this post usually around May for the upcoming year. Here I am, in January. And that pretty much sums up my life. I seem to be always playing catch up lately. But better late than never! I love looking back on what we have done each year.

So this was my plan for Jacob going into his fifth grade year!

Overall Thoughts

Jacob surprised me in wonderful ways during his fourth grade year. There was a lot of change and he became a lot more independent in his schoolwork. AND HE DID AMAZING!!! I was so proud of him and the growth he has made – in LOTS of different ways – not just academically.

I don’t feel like there is too much changing with his subjects this year. Mostly, Jacob is just adding a few things to help him THRIVE. Since moving to Colorado, Jacob has started seeing a marvelous pediatrician who has given Jacob some amazing resources. He is receiving occupational therapy as well as counseling. I won’t go into specifics about these, simply to respect his privacy, but they are going really well! He is also working on an emotion journal which we are hopeful will help him in his day-to-day life.

Curriculum

Conclusion

When I write that all out it seem BONKERS! But we love learning – especially Jacob. Plus, it is probably good to note, we don’t do all of these things every day. Some are even just once a month!

Jacob is doing so well this year. I love watching him learn and grow. Cheers to a continued great fifth grade year!

I love how straightforward confident and happy Jacob looks in his pic. I am so proud of him and how positive (not resistant) he is about his therapy and counseling. He seems to follow an awareness that this will help him. That requires humility and courage. What a good young man.

He is all of those things. One of the very best.
